Adventures With Elephants - Conservation through Educative Experiences
Adventures with Elephants was opened in 2010, however the Hensman family have saved and looked after elephants since 1988. We have had the honour of educating over 15000 guests a year, in the marvels of the African elephant. As numbers of elephants have decreased by some 95% in the last 70 years and by 110 000 elephants in the last ten years (Great Elephant Census) due to habitat loss and poaching, we are honoured to have saved a few. We are even more thrilled to be able to connect you with Elephants through our unique interactions so that you might see them for what they are. We hope that through our experience you think a little bit more about their future, and indeed many other species, in an ever-changing and modernising Africa.
What We Offer
Educational Interaction Experiences
Meet our herd of elephants and whilst one of our experienced carers teaches you all about elephants from trunk tip to tail, their unique personalities, abilities, intelligence, quirks and more. You’ll get to meet all the elephants and learn all about them in a beautiful respectful immersive educational experience.
Elephant Bathe
This experience is only available if you do the Elephant Interaction experience. You will have the opportunity to spend some time with our Gentle Giants in the water while brushing & bathing them (with a bit of splashing thrown in). Summer Activity!
Hide & Seek with Nature Walk
This experience is only available if you do the Elephant Interaction experience. Witness first-hand the elephants incredible sense of smell by partaking in our hide and seek exercise to see if the elephants can track you down by following your scent much like an anti-poaching dog. Afterward spend a little more time getting to know the herd a lot better! Here you’ll see the wild side of the elephants as they free-range feed, frolic, drink, dust bathe and enjoy the 300-hectare wildlife reserve they call home.
Online Zoom Session
Take a break and have a Zoom call with our elephants! Perfect for a team build for corporates who have staff working from home, schools, families and even just yourself if you looking to learn more about these wonderful animals.
